Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the in house Occupational Health Service which supports the health and wellbeing of Great Ormond Street Staff.
We are seeking to recruit a registered nurse with an interest in Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
The post holder will undertake routine occupational health activities including pre-placement assessments, venepuncture, administration of vaccinations, blood borne virus exposure management, contact tracing and health surveillance including spirometry.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will be highly confident, have excellent communication skills,
proficient IT skills and a flexible pro-active approach to be able to manage a varied and demanding workload.
Experience in Occupational Health or is desirable but not essential, as training will be given. If you are a registered nurse with an interest in workplace health and you are looking to start or develop your career in Occupational Health, we would like to hear from you.

Academic / Professional qualification / Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Adult Nurse (with valid NMC)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Experience / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- General consolidated clinical knowledge
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role of occupational health in the workplace
- Competency in immunisation procedures or travel health
- Experience or post registration experience in an acute NHS setting or travel health
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering health and wellbeing initiatives
- A basic understanding of audit and quality assurance initiatives
- Experience in occupational health
- Basic understanding of relevant health and safety legislation
Skills / Abilities
Essential criteria
- Phlebotomy skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Able to organise and prioritise workload
- Computer literate with the ability to use IT competencies to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of relevant data systems, software and learning technologies.
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
