Background

The role forms part of the Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusion (OIEI), which plays a critical role in helping to prioritise staff and student development, engagement, accreditation, monitoring and integrated practice improvement needs.

The EDI Manager (Inclusive and Accessible Communities) is a pivotal appointment to strengthen, promote and champion inclusive and accessible communities across City and the wider community.

It will ensure people are at the centre, that their voices, expertise, and rights drive policy and sit at the heart of design, delivery and improvement of our support and services.

Responsibilities







The EDI Manager will take strategic ownership for planning and delivery of key University EDI objectives. Responsibilities include establishing priorities and planning to ensure the EDI agenda is delivered and that the University complies with its statutory and non-statutory commitments.

The role holder will also work with the Head of EDI on broader EDI-related projects and with members of the EDI Board and OIEI team.

Collaborating with the OIEI team, they will implement an aligned approach to all EDI relevant activity, and through their expert knowledge and experience ensure that all EDI initiatives are delivered through an inclusive and accessible lens.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the EDI field and demonstrate experience and skills in the following areas :

- An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and / or demonstrable experience in a comparable setting
- Proven project and people management skills
- Experience of Athena SWAN and / or other equality Charter Marks awards






- An understanding of the importance of EDI and of equality legislation
- Project management skills
- Ability to work flexibly, independently and co-operatively as part of a team
- Ability to analyse, interpret, summarise and report on complex statistical data
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills
