About The Role
Due to recent vacancies in our SRA teams, we are looking for a small number of full-time enrolled post graduate research students to join us as Student Residence Advisers in UCL halls. Please note that the conditions of your course funding may not permit you to take on this commitment, so be sure to check your funding terms before applying. Student Residence Advisers (SRAs)
are responsible for out of hours peer-to-peer support in UCL Accommodation and helping students settle into student life at UCL. SRAs build strong communities within the halls through the curation and delivery of events and activities throughout the year, in collaboration with Student Accommodation as well as Student Support and Wellbeing Services, as part of the ResLife Programme. SRAs provide residents with peer-to-peer pastoral support, offering supportive conversations and signposting to wider UCL and external services.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Who is full time post-graduate research student at UCL, with at least one year of studies remaining.
- Who is able to work well in a team, showing ability to seek advice from others when needed
- Who has previous experience of a role involving pastoral care, or an advisory or supportive role
- Who is passionate about student wellbeing, and understands the importance of community building as proactive support
- Who is able to balance their duties as a UCL student and a Student Residence Adviser
What we offer
As an SRA you can expect to be on duty 2 to 3 times per week, working on a rota basis during weekday evenings, throughout weekends, bank holidays and UCL closure periods. SRA shifts are spent interacting with residents providing proactive wellbeing support and guidance, delivering activities such as quiz and games nights and attending welfare checks and SRA appointments. The SRA role is an unpaid position, and you will be allocated a single room within one of UCLs Accommodation Sites free of charge. Please be aware we are unable to accommodate any allocation preferences due to the limited number of vacancies. You must also be available for training dates in November.
