Job Summary

The Catering and Events Department of a prestigious educational institution operates various cafés, restaurants, bars, and events across multiple campuses. The department aims to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the community.

We are looking for a talented individual to support the Catering and Events Operations Manager in ensuring excellent day-to-day operational practices and effective line management in a brand-new bar and restaurant.

In this role, you will manage the Catering and Bar Operations in accordance with health and hygiene legislation and departmental procedures, ensuring that the customer experience of Catering services is provided efficiently.







The post holder will ensure that the Catering and Events Teams align with the institution's Values and Behaviours framework and are competent in safe working practices, following departmental procedures. You will oversee direct reports' compliance with policies and health and hygiene legislation in all catering operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a multi-site catering operation as a general manager or assistant manager and possess excellent people management skills. Customer service skills are essential, along with a good understanding of food hygiene and licensing legislation. Please note that this position is offered on a 5/7 day contract and will require flexibility regarding working hours, including evenings and weekends across all outlets.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who wishes to progress to a Catering Operations role.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing and motivating team members,





creating and reviewing individual performance/training frameworks and annual staff appraisals in accordance with departmental goals and personal development needs.
- Ensuring stock control is conducted monthly in each area in line with financial guidelines.
- Supporting Supervisors to ensure staff resources are used efficiently and within set financial parameters.
- Assisting Supervisors in identifying and implementing changes in customer service and product offerings to maximise revenue.
- Monitoring and supporting the outlet teams to conduct their practices in accordance with Food Hygiene, Health and Safety legislation, financial regulations, and departmental policies.

Essential Requirements

- Previous experience managing a team, with a proven ability to train, develop, motivate, and lead team members.






- Experience in a fast-paced bar/restaurant environment.
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Personal Licence Holder.
- Strong numerical skills for planning and analysing financial data and interpreting budgetary information to ensure compliance with financial constraints.
- Passion for delivering high-quality customer service at all times.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present and deliver information appropriately.
- Ability to use initiative and prioritise activities, addressing problems that may hinder effective service delivery.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to deliver an efficient service.
- Good IT skills to operate a computerised stock ordering system (ideally experience with Procure Wizard).
