An exciting opportunity has arisen in Sheffield Sexual health Services.

Sexual Health Sheffield delivers comprehensive sexual health services to the population of Sheffield. This includes a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic care for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

A full range of contraception services are also provided. Underpinning the service delivery are partner notification, counselling and health promotion services.

The Band 6 will provide a pivotal role in the department facilitating nurse delivered clinics and supporting junior staff in the delivery of patient care.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated qualified nurse who is driven by service development,





would like to work in a department that is looking to expand and would like to be part of change.

If you have good time management skills, have the skills to teach others, are methodical in your practice and have the patient at the centre of the care you deliver then this could be the job for you.

You will need to have at relevant experience of working in sexual health and be flexible in your working hours.

The service is looking to expand so we need candidates who are able to be flexible).

There are a number of posts which include both fixed term secondment and permanent. there are full time or part time hours.

You would need your managers support in advance to be able to apply for the secondment post.

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE

- To provide level 1 sexual health services as a core requirement, as recommended by the Department of Health in the National Strategy for Sexual Health.
- In addition, as a specialist aspect of the role, dependant upon expertise,





provide level 2 / 3 services in screening / diagnosing / treating those with sexually transmitted infections.

Initiating / changing / repeating methods of contraceptive, as recommended by the Department of Health in the National Strategy for Sexual Health.

Provide wider sexual health advice and support around an integrated model.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 12 months, until October 2025. Where there is potential, the secondment / fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment / fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal / external secondment of the substantive post holder.







The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of 12 months, until October 2025, due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

- Registered General Nurse or Midwife (Level 1)
- Possession of degree in nursing or working towards
- ENB 998 / C&G; / PP126&127 or equivalent teaching / mentorship qualification or happy to work towards

Desirable criteria

- Completion of NMP course or working towards
- Experience of leading and managing a team
- Implant fitter or prepared to train

Experience

Essential criteria

- Relevant post registration experience.






- Relevant experience at Band 5 and above within Sexual Health Services
- Experience of Nurse lead clinics
- Experience of applying research and audit in practice
- Evidence of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Evidence of policy and protocol development

Desirable criteria

- Experience of leading change.
- Audit / research experience
- Community / networking experience.
- Trained at level 2-3 safeguarding children and adults, with relevant updates
- Knowledge about Adult safeguarding issues with the ability to refer and sign post where appropriate.

Further Training

Essential criteria

- Understanding of confidentiality in relation to sexual health
- Awareness of code of ethics / conduct in dealing with sexual health issues






- Experience of genital examination and the use of a speculum

Desirable criteria

- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Knowledge of sexual health issues
