The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Trust has a national and international reputation in Addiction and Co-Occurring Mental Health Alcohol and Drugs (COMHAD) treatment. Addictions Plus, LYPFT, works alongside other partners that make up Forward Leeds, a CQC outstanding rated organisation.

Following OHID (Office for Health Improvement and Disparities) investment and expansion of the service an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-disciplinary team as a Non-Medical Prescriber. The post holder will run prescribing clinics across the hubs.

You will work closely with all areas of the Forward Leeds partnership, ensuring that service users are provided with evidence-based treatment,





specialist psychosocial and pharmacological interventions.

You will be joining a diverse and skilled team that consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Non-medical prescribers, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Specialist Midwives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will run prescribing clinics for people experiencing addiction and co-occurring mental health problems; prescribing a range of addiction pharmacotherapies. There will be no direct case management, but the post holder will work collaboratively with the case manager, the wider MDT and service users in making decisions relating to treatment plans.

To offer clinical supervision to junior staff and supervision to those undergoing /recently completed non-medical prescribing training. The posts holder will also be provided with excellent supervision and support in terms of career development and learning.







The post holder will deliver specialist psychosocial interventions to people experiencing addiction problems and co-occurring mental health and other complex needs.

To be involved in service development and staff training.

They will represent the service at various meetings and forums within LYPFT, Forward Leeds, as well as at external events.

The Non-Medical Prescriber is responsible and accountable for providing safe, effective care and efficient services to service users and their carers who live within the community.





Key aspects of the role include conducting of mental health assessments, contribution to MDT meetings, commitment to promoting recovery and maximising independence. They will participate in team and service development and evaluation. Liaison, advice and consultation with other services is required.

This post is also responsible for the provision and supervision of non-medical prescribing within the Addictions Plus Service.

The post holder will:

Provide advanced advice & consultation, case management support, clinical leadership, supervision, teaching and Specialist Psychosocial Intervention (SPSI) for service users with co-occurring substance misuse and complex mental health needs within the Addictions Plus Service.

Be an experienced,





registered mental health practitioner who has completed relevant post-graduate training or equivalent to extend their scope of practice regarding consultation, assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions.

Be a Non-Medical Prescriber with a qualification recorded on the appropriate professional register as an independent/supplementary prescriber, able to provide supervision to other NMPs within the service. Apply non-medical prescribing training and expertise to prescribe appropriate pharmacological treatments and conduct routine medication reviews.

Offering advice, support and supervision to other healthcare professionals including actual and supervisory prescribing.







Provide direct and indirect clinical intervention to service users with complex mental health and additional substance misuse needs who may also present with co-morbid complex psychological and physical health needs.

Act both autonomously and in conjunction with the wider Multidisciplinary Team in assessing, diagnosing, planning and implementing care plans; whilst maintaining associated healthcare records.

Demonstrate advanced clinical competence in formulation

Have Specialist Psychosocial Intervention skills requiring SPSI supervision needs

Provide support and supervision to a team of junior staff and provide specialist advice relevant to their clinical practice and expertise.

Be responsible for delivering relevant substance misuse and associated training to team members.







Provide clinical advice and leadership appropriate to their professional background and provide profession specific advice and leadership to the wider team.

Undertake research and service evaluation and lead on clinical audits relevant to their field of specialist practice. Job description
