Kingdown School is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (Literacy) to its dedicated Curriculum Support Team and provide support to young people across all age ranges and abilities.

Working Hours: Part time (18 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes teacher Training Days). Required: November 2024

The post holder will work under supervision and direction of the Higher Level Teaching Assistant of Reading Hub, usually outside the classroom – working with students who need support to fill gaps in literacy and reading. They will be part of a diagnostic literacy team so that precise diagnosis can be followed by evidence-based strategies, which support reading fluency; phonics and blending, and comprehension. You will receive professional training and support from our dedicated team of literacy specialists. successful candidate will be able to work flexibly to support all students, including those requiring SEN support. We are looking for someone who:







- Has at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent;
- Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
- Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
- Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
- Is a strong team player, good at building relationships;
- Has a confident, resilient and flexible attitude;
- Is organised and enthusiastic;
- Has experience of working with children / young people in a school environment (desirable).
