Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join the Respiratory Medicine department at St.

Bartholomew’s Hospital.

We are seeking to recruit a Patient Pathway Coordinator to provide excellent patient pathway support within the Respiratory department and to assist in the delivery of a high-quality service for the Lung Cancer Department.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring a smooth and efficient pathway administration for patients throughout their journey through the Service, from the point of referral, for both outpatient & inpatients, to point of discharge.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated,





proactive and well organized with a strong sense of patient / customer care.

The ability to multitask, work in a team and work under pressure in what can often be a busy office environment is essential.

Candidates should have good knowledge and understanding of patient access targets, Cancer pathway and ideally will have prior experience of working in an administrative role in an NHS setting.

Main duties of the job

To be the point of contact for patients for all issues relating to their pathway of care in regardto both inpatients and outpatients.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinaryteam, under the direction of the Clinical Lead, and will provide expertise in the proactivemanagement of the patient pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway ismanagedsmoothly.







The post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being anaccessible, customer focussed and knowledgeable point of contact.

To provide a consistentapproach across the Trust, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) will describe how thefunctionsofthis rolewillbecarriedoutalongwiththetimescalesthatwillbeadhered.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.

Experience







Essential criteria

- Ability to treat everyone with whom s / he comes into contact with dignity and respect.

Desirable criteria

- An understanding of Medical Terminology appropriate to specialism.
- EPR / CRS and Choose and Book.

Experience

Essential criteria

- Experience using customer focused administrative system.
- Experience working in a customer focused environment.

Skills

Essential criteria

- Data / Records / Information Management Accurate data entry, typing and checking skills
- Pays attention to detail
- Skilled in the use of IT / patient data systems (as listed above).
- Writing and reporting skills.






- Quality and Service Improvement.
- Contributes to service improvements and is solution focused.

Desirable criteria

- Ability to communicate effectively in a language other than English.
