Job description

Job Purpose

The post holder will support the Financial Aid Manager in the delivery of financial aid programs. The role is part of a team supporting enquiry management, guidance on financial aid options, the assessment of applications for support and the administration of financial aid processes.

You will support smooth day-to-day operations and maintain a high level of customer service. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1.

Provide guidance and support to students and other stakeholders about financial aid options, eligibility requirements, and application procedures.

You will act as the main point of contact for financial aid enquires and maintain a high level of customer service.2.





Provide administrative support for financial aid programs.

This will include the processing and assessment of applications to determine eligibility and the level of award. You will process awards to students via the University’s student records system.

3. Work with funders / sponsors who provide financial support to students, including US Department of Education, Student Loans Company, and Student Awards Agency for Scotland.

4. You will follow funder / sponsor procedures and processes, maintain records, process data, and carry out reporting.5. Work in partnership with other University services and external funders / sponsors to ensure effective co-ordination of financial support for students.

6. Ensure compliance with funder and institutional policies and regulations related to financial aid.7. Support the reconciliation of financial aid control accounts and the monitoring of financial aid budgets, liaising with the Financial Aid Manager and Finance Office.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial support resources for students and staff. Attend open days and orientation events to provide information on financial aid.

9. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by working with the Financial Aid Manager and other team members to identify and implement process improvements to enhance the student and staff experience.

10. Participate in professional development to stay informed about changes and trends in financial aid policies and practices.

11. Undertake other duties commensurate with the role and grade as required. Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge / Qualifications Essential :





A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.

A2 Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Desirable : B1 Knowledge of student financial aid schemes and government regulations relating to student finance.

B2 Knowledge of financial processes and systems. Skills Essential : C1 Excellent numeracy and IT skills.C2 Good interpersonal and communication skills.

C3 Ability to develop and apply specialist knowledge in an organisational setting.C4 Excellent customer service skills.C5 Proven ability to plan, organise and prioritise a large workload effectively to meet deadlines without supervision.







C6 Initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently.C7 Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.C8 Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

C9 Able to work flexibly and demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic approach. Desirable : D1 Proficiency in use of MyCampus.

Experience Essential : E1 Experience working in a busy customer-focused environment with a wide and varied customer base.

E2 Experience of liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Desirable : F1 Experience of a working in a financial administration or student support role.

F2 Experience in use of Agresso or similar financial system.F3 Experience of using a call management or CRM system. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum pro rata.

This post is part-time (17.5 hours per week), and open ended.
