Job description

Job summary

- Providing excellent customer care. Hospital visits can be stressful and daunting, so you will be a great communicator with strong customer service skills to put our patients at ease, treating them with tact and empathy
- Coordinating and organising the attendance of patients to outpatient, day case and theatre appointments
- Ensuring all administrative processes and enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner. Typical tasks that you will complete are :
- Proof reading clinical letters (please note there is no audio typing in this role)
- Monitoring waiting times, ensuring that our patients treatment pathways,





from referral to treatment are accurate and up to date (you can find out more on what this means here : NHS England Referral to treatment)
- Booking appointments from waiting lists
- Setting up and updating clinics / Theatre bookings
- Liaising with other health services
- Assisting and supporting other members of the administrative team across the department or division, including dealing with telephone calls and resolving enquiries for patients, their carers and visitors.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a busy and vibrant team to join us full-time in our Vascular Surgery Admin team as a Service Administrator / Medical Secretary.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, an ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure.

You will be adaptable,





reliable and an excellent team member with good secretarial qualifications and / or experience. Knowledge of working in a hospital environment and medical terminology is desirable.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proven experience in dealing with Patients on the telephone.

You will be flexible and adaptable with excellent IT skills.

You will need to enjoy the challenge of working as part of a busy team yet have the ability to use your own initiative to meet the changing needs of the department.

Our team is made up of dedicated, patient focused individuals, who communicate well and have great interpersonal skills.

Theyre organised problem solvers with strong attention to detail.

Working Pattern : hours per week, Monday to Friday between and 5pm - Can be discussed at interview

Interview Date : Monday 23rd September and Wednesday 25th September 2024

Pay : The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a pay award implemented from October 2024.

If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2023-4 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2023 / 24 NHS Employers).
