Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance.

How you will create an impact
- Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives.
- Receiving and acting upon first notifications and updates, determining coverage.
- Taking a fair and proportionate approach towards policy holders
- Agreeing valid claims
- Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required
- Representing the syndicate at market meetings, leading meetings where appropriate
- Maintaining compliance with internal and external risk controls and regulatory requirements
- Notifying and reporting claims notifications to underwriters and senior management where necessary.
- Handling major claim through discovery process and dispute resolution.
- Managing multiple claims in your class of business and in multiple jurisdictions.
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience in handling direct and facultative reinsurance claims in the classes of Cargo; Fine Art & Specie; Marine Hull;
Marine Liability; Crisis Management; Political Risk / Trade Credit; Upstream Energy
- Experience in Treaty and Aviation, would be an advantage.
- Detailed understanding of the London Market regulatory environment and implications for Talbot and our clients.
- Full working knowledge of market systems and DocoSoft.
- Ability to identify trends and understand how these may affect Claims and the Syndicate more broadly.
