UK Online Tutors in English, History, Politics, & Economics
English School UK – Remote
We are currently seeking skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as online tutors in the following areas:
- English 11+/13+ Exam Practice
- English, Key Stage 2 & 3
- GCSE English Language & Literature
- Nonfiction Academic Essay Writing
- GCSE/A-level History, Politics, & Economics
*Please note this is NOT an EFL or second-language teaching post*
As an online tutor, you will teach students following UK schools’ curriculum, and exam content. We have opportunities for 1-to-1 Tutorial sessions, and small groups (maximum of six students). Classes are normally 1 hour, plus preparation time and assignment marking (inclusive of hourly rate). This is a remote working, part-time position, allowing you to work flexibly from home. You will work as a contracted tutor, providing flexibility of hours and scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct engaging & interactive online tutoring sessions based on British curriculum.
- Create personalized lesson plans & learning materials tailored to students’ academic needs & goals.
- Provide timely & constructive feedback following each session, helping students improve & accelerate their learning.
- Preparation of own lesson material for each session.
- Grade student assignment works, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Utilize digital teaching & learning technologies such as Zoom, Google Drive,
and social communication platforms to deliver effective online learning.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English, History, Politics, or Economics (to align with the subject you wish to teach), or currently studying as an under/postgraduate major in your specialised subject area.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with digital teaching & learning technology, including Zoom, Google Drive, and SNS platforms essential.
- Excellent communication skills & ability to engage & motivate students in an online learning environment.
- Flexibility with working hours to accommodate students' schedules, with students calling in from various time zones.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet work environment.
- Collegial and congenial approach to working with colleagues,
students & others to foster respectful, flexible and empathic working.
- Applicants MUST reside within the UK, or Ireland.
Remittance & Benefits
- Hourly rate of 20GBP & upwards - dependent on experience & qualifications.
