Supported Lodgings (Stockport)
Become a supported lodgings provider in Stockport
Did you know that you can support a young person, whilst working and receive an allowance of £268 per week ?
Stockport Council’s Supported Lodgings scheme is looking for residents in Stockport and surrounding areas, aged 25 plus, who have a spare room and would like to support a vulnerable young person, aged between 16 and 17, who are at risk of becoming homeless or care leavers aged between 18 and 21 and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.
You will require a level of resilience, be empathetic and tolerant and be able to provide warm, supportive, safe, and friendly accommodation.
The aim of the supported Lodgings scheme is to provide a stepping stone to independence. As a Supported Lodgings Provider, you will be supporting young people to develop skills which include budgeting, cooking, cleaning, washing and generally staying safe and healthy, this will help young people to strive to live successful independent lives in preparation for living in their own accommodation.
We will provide regular support to the Supported Lodgings Providers and each young person will receive support from a social worker or a Leaving Care worker during their stay with you.
You are not expected to provide guardianship for the young person, just support and guidance in a safe environment.
