Job overview
We are looking for a locum consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in Soft tissue Knee, as well as Hip and Knee Arthroplasty.
The post will be for 1 year with a focus on elective patients. You will be predominantly based at Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre in Newham which is an accredited Surgical Hub, with regular clinical sessions at the Royal London Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital.
You will be joining a department of 56 consultant orthopaedic surgeons.
You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 3 months of obtaining CCT.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates Fellowship training in revision lower limb arthroplasty surgery
- Completed training in Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Full GMC registration
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via : CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT / CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview, CESR or European Community Right
Desirable criteria
- Experience at consultant level working in a major trauma centre
- Evidence of clinical interest in fragility fracture management

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
- Full GMC Registration with current licence to practice
- Arthroplasty fellowship training
- The candidate should be on the GMC specialist register or within 6-months of obtaining this
Desirable criteria
- Higher level research degree (MD or equivalent)
- Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Able to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Engage fully with both NATSSIPS and LOCSSIPS as required and develop where necessary
- Ability to offer an expert clinical opinion on range of elective & emergency problems within specialty
