Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the Edwards/Cummings lab in the Department of Neuroscience Physiology and Pharmacology.







About The Role

The main purpose of the position is to undertake electrophysiological experiments (patch clamp and field recording) in brain slices from novel aged mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. The post is funded by the National Institute of Health USA and is a collaboration with neurochemists in Sweden and Chicago.

The postholder will also cooperate with the collaborators in addition to assisting the team in the development, planning and delivery of research funded by The Cure Alzheimer’s Fund USA and The Alzheimer’s Society, UK.

The post is available for 18 months in the first instance with possibility of extension.

The salary for the role is at Research Assistant Grade 6B spinal point 25 (currently £38,357 per annum including London Allowance).

About You

You must have experience in preparing mammalian brain slices and recording synaptic currents using patch clamp, preferably in aged animals and have completed a MSc in relevant subject area.

Proven knowledge of central synaptic transmission is also essential.
