Role: Marine Engineer / Technical EngineerREF 80966
Contract Length: 194 days - to start in Jan 2025
Location: Most of the work will be on site in Portsmouth, Head office is Croydon. Travel is expected in this role, Expenses will be covered.
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: Market Rate
Security Clearance: SC or DV requested

Spinwell is recruiting for a Marine Engineer / Technical Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MARINE ENGINEER / TECHNICAL ENGINEER

Engineering Technical Superintendent for designated vessels.

Arrange, facilitate and oversee maintenance and recertification periods,





including visiting shipyards during maintenance periods to oversee quality of workmanship, completion of all contracted works and acceptance as required. This may involve periods working away from the home station.

Maintain the material aspects and operational availability of the vessels in your charge to meet the requirements of the Maritime Control Centre.

Ensure the vessels remain certified to all legislative requirements, including MCA Load Line certification or Workboat Code (Class 2).

Liaise with the Maritime finance team and Home Office Commercial Directorate to ensure all related expenditure is compliant.

Audit contract invoices against agreed and completed works before forward processing to the Vessel Management Senior Officer.

Arrange and oversee all in year reactive maintenance and damage repairs.

Liaise with the Maritime Control Centre regarding scheduling of all work on your vessels that may impacts on their operational availability.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring support to CPV crews on matters of an engineering nature.







Identify engineering stores required for the CPV fleet to satisfy MB59 requests.

Evaluate defect reports and take appropriate action.

Undertake material assurance visits if required on an opportunity basis.

Monitor vessel usage and machinery servicing requirements.

Arrange storage for vessels surplus to operational requirement.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE MARINE ENGINEER / TECHNICAL ENGINEER

Experience with setting up detailed requirements for work packages.

Experience in managing major projects.

Experience in financial control of suppliers.

Experience in working in a close team sharing projects.

Experience working with partners and stakeholders in the marine ship repair and maintenance industry.
