An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to lead the Stroke service nursing team as Matron within the Directorate of Medicine and Therapies at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust.
Haldane Ward - An acute ward with 16 monitored Hyper Acute Stroke beds and 18 acute rehab beds.
Herrick Ward - comprising 27 step down rehab beds
As a Matron you have key responsibility to ensure that patients receive high quality, safe nursing care within the Stroke Unit by providing compassionate leadership and support to the Ward Managers and nursing teams in line with the Trust's vision, strategies and values.
Effective communication,
a strong collaborative approach and ability to engage the nursing workforce and multidisciplinary team within an ever changing and challenging environment is essential.
You will provide leadership, managerial and governance support, training and education and form part of the wider clinical leaders peer group across the Trust.
You will require strong leadership skills, being an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced nurse who is able to make a positive difference to your teams. The ability to quickly build strong working relationships with the Stroke MDT and within the divisional Matron group will be essential to take our demanding agenda forward.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be the key clinical leader ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice and clinical care is delivered to patients. * The post holder will provide professional leadership and management to all accountable staff' including recruitment, appraisal, continual professional development and disciplinary matters in order to provide a patient focused service.
- Accountable for service delivery, including clinical standards, management of clinical risk and complaints - liaising with other agencies as appropriate and playing a pro-active role in quality improvement.
- Responsible for nursing budgets and effective management of resources.
- Responsible for service development relating to nursing and the wards in accordance to national recommendations and standards.
- The post holder will be ward and departmental based and clinical for 75% of the time.
- Responsible for driving the ethos behind the NHS Matron's Charter in relation to providing a clean environment for patients and thereby reducing the risk of hospital acquired infections.
Key objectives will include implementation of the national and local nursing strategies and achievement of Trust and National Stroke key performance indicators in relation to performance, quality of care and safe patient experience.
