An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join the Preoperative Assessment (POA) team at Maidstone Hospital.

We are looking for a keen; reliable member of staff to join us in our busy, friendly Pre-operative assessment department.

You will need to be able to communicate effectively and deliver a high standard of care in a time orientated process.

This will also require you to be flexible, hardworking and reliable.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the process which will involve direct patient contact,





performing baseline observations including an ECG as well as assisting the registered nurses in accessing and collating patient investigation results.

The POA currently opens at 08 : 00 18 : 00, hours are negotiable within the scope of maintaining the service provision.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment).

The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if this is going to be problematic : ), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites.







The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level.

Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Qualifications

Essential criteria

- NVQ / Diploma level 3 in Healthcare (or equivalent healthcare qualification) or successful completion of a level 3 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
- Functional skills English and maths level 2 or GCSE English and maths grades A* / 9 C / 4.

Experience / Knowledge

Essential criteria

- Minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent experience as a Healthcare Support Worker or Trainee in a care setting.
- Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers (2013).






- Knowledge of the common conditions / illnesses / complex needs of patients within the appropriate clinical specialty
