Job description

Job overview

Are you currently a Clinical Nurse Specialist, or ready for a step up to a specialist role? We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join our MS Nursing Team.

The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse with the ability to demonstrate strong clinical leadership and Trust values in all they do.

Our MS service provides care to patients and their families throughout the course of their illness. We work as partners with our patients and with the wider medical and allied health profession teams in nurse-led outpatient and virtual clinics.

We also work with patients who are admitted to the in-patient wards and our dedicated day care infusion unit,

either for infusion-based treatments or for rehabilitation.

We look forward to welcoming our new Band 7 nurse to participate in the core work of the team which includes the management of treatment pathways, symptom management and health promotion.

Recent treatment advances have transformed the outlook for people living with MS and this role presents a unique opportunity to be involved and influence the new patient pathways.

We are proud of our record of delivering high quality safe care within a robust clinical governance framework. We are able to offer you the opportunity to develop your skills and competencies as a clinical nurse specialist, both though our in-house development programme and in collaboration with the MS Trust and MS Academy.

Main duties of the job

The NHNN is an internationally renowned hospital for clinical practice and world-class clinical research in neurosciences.

It is also closely associated with the Institute of Neurology (ION). Together, NHNN and ION are regarded as the premier neurosciences centre in the UK.

In addition to Neurology and Neurosurgery, the NHNN provides comprehensive services in Neurorehabilitation, Neuro-Critical Care and Neuro-Psychiatry.

The NHNN receives secondary, tertiary and quaternary referrals from across the UK and internationally.

We are looking for a new colleague who is an outstanding communicator, can demonstrate flexibility and is able to prioritise effectively and efficiently in a busy and fast paced work environment.

They must be able to work effectively, both autonomously and as part of the team. We would welcome applications from nurses currently working at a Band 6 or Band 7 level in primary or secondary care who have an interest in MS, and enjoy working and making a difference to the lives of people living with a long-term condition.
