The Opportunity
The Role
Novel technologies like artificial intelligence present opportunities and challenges for businesses in all industries.
The Digital Advisory (Emerging Technology Law) team plays a central role in helping in-house counsel respond to complex and evolving emerging tech law.
It coordinates & oversees learning and development, business development, and productisation for the firm's global, cross-practice network of more than 400 emerging tech lawyers worldwide who make up our award-winning Emerging Technology Group of expert legal advisers.
Key responsibilities :
To support the Director and Executive with day-to-day legal and supporting tasks including :
- monitoring and reporting legal and regulatory matters relating to AI (and potentially also blockchain, digital assets, and the metaverse)
- conducting research on legal and regulatory matters relating to AI (and potentially also blockchain,
digital assets, and the metaverse) using the Internet and other digital tools
- helping to manage specialist library, training, and legal know-how materials relating to AI law (and potentially blockchain, digital assets, and metaverse law)
- assisting with the document management of precedents and with the production of our business development materials including insights campaigns, articles, consultations, webinars, roundtables, and events
- creating and maintaining know-how files and distributing them to our Global AI Advisory Group of cross-practice lawyers, including supporting on the running of regular internal knowledge sharing calls and newsletters
- updating our copies of relevant codes, legislation and regulations relating to AI (and potentially blockchain, digital assets,
and the metaverse)
- helping to prepare content for marketing and business development activities such as pitches, training, client meetings, press, and marketing
- collecting and ensuring our data on internal and client activities remains up to date at all times
- staying abreast of news on emerging technology law and its impact on our clients, and proactively sharing insights into the impact of news on clients and sectors
- carrying out data collection and analysis on our firm's activities relating to AI law (and potentially also blockchain, digital assets, and metaverse law)
- Administrative tasks

Qualifications, skills and experience :
- Excellent academics (minimum 2 : 1 degree).
- SQE / LP preferable but not essential.
- 6 months to a year’s work experience in an office-based environment (preferable but not essential).
- Strong IT literacy, including an aptitude for learning (and becoming proficient in the use and functioning of) new and innovative software and IT applications.
- Experience working in a professional services environment, preferably large international law firm, preferred but not required.
- Solutions-oriented, curious, and creative thinker with a strong interest in emerging technologies and their application in the context of law and regulation.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to summarise complex issues succinctly verbally and in writing and to liaise directly with clients and lawyers and others in the firm, and able to build relationships and influence all levels of seniority.
- Excellent organisational skills (including the ability to prioritise) and experience working on numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail while also able to step back and see the 'bigger picture' of problems, opportunities, and trends.
- Proactive team player with strong problem-solving skills, analytical ability coupled with sound judgement to balance multiple factors and solve complex problems, experience managing projects across multiple stakeholders.
