About the Role :
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a team of dedicated English teachers, ensuring the delivery of a rigorous and engaging curriculum to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
The Head of English will play a crucial role in fostering a love of language and literature, promoting critical thinking, and preparing students for success in their academic and personal lives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Curriculum Leadership : Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
- Departmental Management : Oversee the day-to-day operations of the English department, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Teaching and Learning : Lead by example in the classroom, delivering inspiring lessons that foster student engagement and achievement.
- Assessment and Evaluation : Implement robust assessment strategies to track student progress and inform instructional practices.
- Professional Development : Support the professional growth of English teachers through mentoring, coaching,
and training opportunities.
- Collaboration : Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
- Proven track record of successful teaching and leadership experience in English at the secondary level.
- Deep understanding of the English curriculum and assessment frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Passionate about English language and literature, with a commitment to fostering student success.
