Psychology Graduate - Mental Health Assistant - Oxford

A warm and welcoming Specialist school in Oxford are looking for a committed Mental Health Assistant to join their team of staff for a September Start!
The school :
The successful Mental Health Assistant will be joining a team that places a high importance on ensuring that all students are cared for and feel included.
You will have the advantage of joining a positive environment with a supportive team of staff who all share the same goal of ensuring their students are getting the most out of their education.
The role :
The children at this school are in need of an individual who can provide support to them in their day to day duties. These children struggle with various learning disabilities, as well as some students having ASD as their main diagnosis.
This can make learning quite tricky and these students need a supportive and positive individual to facilitate a safe and engaging environment for them to maximise their learning.
The successful Mental Health Assistant will have the opportunity to support a student on a 1 : 1 basis, helping them to get the most from their lessons.
You may also be required to support students in a small group setting. You will help these children access their learning in ways they may not have been able to before.
A really fulfilling task!
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will be helping these children reach their academic and personal goals by encouraging involvement in the classroom and in addition become independent learners.
Your day to day as an Autism Support Assistant will not only be supporting the students but also the class teacher. You will help to ensure the classroom runs smoothly.
This will entail helping to set up for lessons, clear up after lessons and assist with outdoor activities such as PE or any outdoor learning.
The successful Mental Health Assistant :
As a successful Mental Health Assistant you will have experience working with a classroom setting or with children who struggle with learning difficulties.
A positive attitude is most necessary as well as a passion to make a difference.
This is a great opportunity for psychology graduates looking to expand on their experience working with children, or aspiring educational psychologists or ASD Specialists.
