About the job
Reporting to the Senior Internal Communications Manager, your role will support the delivery of the SWR internal communications strategy to inform, inspire and engage our people.
You will be responsible for proactively producing and publishing colleague communications through print and digital channels.
This will include developing engaging and relevant content for publications, campaigns and internal events.
You will be resilient and adept at working with colleagues across South Western Railway.
Your main responsibilities will be :
- Supporting the delivery of the internal communications strategy.
- Sourcing and developing stories from around the business that help explain South Western Railway's strategy and priorities and publishing them in digital and print channels.
- Ensuring managers have the content and support they need to deliver and share communications with their teams.
- Leading the development and delivery of internal communications campaigns using existing and potentially new communications channels.
- Working with other functions to advise on their communication needs and provide strategic direction on key messages and channels.
- Building strong relationships and trust with senior leaders and our people to support the delivery of our communications messages.
- Writing and distributing internal updates to our people via email, the intranet and other mediums for important company news.
- Planning and managing online and in person events.
- Working with other Communications functions to support wider communications initiatives and working with the Group Internal Communications team to ensure alignment.
As a minimum, you will need to have :
- An experienced communications manager with an internal communications or journalistic background.
- Experience of working in a large organisation with colleagues based across multiple locations.
- High standard of writing for a variety of audiences.
- Experience of building strong collaborative relationships across all organisational levels.
- The ability to work on own initiative, whilst knowing when to seek advice.
- Able to contribute to the development of internal communications strategies.
- Strong editing and proof-reading skills.
- Experience in developing, implementing and improving communications channels particularly digital.
- Resilience and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Excellent IT skills,
including content management systems, and (desirable) publishing and video editing software.
- Qualifications in communication, PR, marketing or journalism (either as main degree or additional qualification) or equivalent (desirable).
About the location
South Western Railways HQ is based on the 4th Floor at South Bank Central, a stone's throw from the River Thames and a 10 minute walk from our busiest station, Waterloo.
It is local to many well-known attractions, restaurants and retail facilities and is easily accessible by public transport.
Working pattern
Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days
09.00-17.00
