Psychology Learning Support Assistant
Location : South Shields

Are you passionate about psychology and eager to gain hands-on experience supporting students in an educational setting? A school in South Shields is seeking a dedicated Psychology Learning Support Assistant to work with children and young people who require additional help with their learning and development.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide 1 : 1 or small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, and social / emotional challenges.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and other staff to implement tailored strategies that support each student’s unique learning needs.
- Assist students with managing behavior, developing social skills, and improving emotional well-being.
- Support classroom activities, ensuring resources are adapted to individual student requirements.
- Monitor and report on student progress to teachers and parents, contributing to individual education plans (IEPs).
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages all students to thrive.
What We’re Looking For :
- A degree in Psychology (or working towards one) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or therapeutic setting is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- A solid understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to promoting student welfare.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
