About The Role

Regional Officer Sahel (West and Central Africa)

Location : UK Office, London

Salary : £, per annum based on Hours Per Week (plus Inner London Weighting of £,)

Contract type : One Permanent & One Month Fixed Term available.

Are you a French speaking international humanitarian or international development professional? Could provide an essential information link between our British Red Cross UK Head Office in London and the Sahel Region team?

The International Division is responsible for international disaster response,





support to resilience programmes and organisational development of our partner Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The work of the International Division also includes humanitarian policy and advocacy activities, and International Humanitarian Law.

British Red Cross' international work is carried out in coordination and partnership with the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.

What does a day in the life of a Regional officer look Like?

- Ensure the Head of Region for West and Central Africa, Country Managers for Sahel, and Programme Managers receive adequate resources from the UK Head Office to deliver Regional and Country Strategies.
- Report to the Country Manager for Sahel, directing projects and services, coordinating and mobilising resources from the UK Head Office to support regional and country strategies.
- Represent the regional team at internal and external meetings, conferences, and public engagements as required by the Head of Region or Country Managers.
- Facilitate engagement and information flow to the regional team, assist with monitoring and reporting,





manage relationships with key stakeholders (including Fundraising and Communications), and maintain partnerships within Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Chad.

Do you have the following skills and experience to be a successful Regional Officer?

Strong understanding of the West and Central Africa regional context (socially and politically) and the international humanitarian system.

Knowledge of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, with experience in international disaster response, development, and working with remote teams.

- Fluent in French, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation, presentation, and report writing (especially drafting and compiling program documents, proposals,





and donor reports) for various audiences.
- Skilled in stakeholder management and collaborative work across multiple teams, with the ability to influence key partners, Trusts, Foundations, and donors.
- Excellent administrative, project / program management, and IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and maintaining spreadsheets and financial databases accurately.
