At Clarus Education, we are working with an FE College who are seeking to appoint a FE Biology Science Lecturer, based at the Uxbridge Campus.
Our Sixth Form is responsible primarily for the delivery of A Level, AS, GCSE and Vocational Science courses. We have a track record of achieving strong results which places the Sixth Form in the top 10% of colleges nationally for A level progress.
Qualification achievement rates for very many of the science courses offered are significantly above sector averages.
Science, offered at A level (Biology, Chemistry, & Physics), GCSE (Biology, Chemistry, & Physics), and Vocational levels 2 and 3, is one of the most popular subjects in the Sixth Form.
We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated lecturer of science, whether you are an experienced teacher or an enthusiastic new entrant to the profession.
You would teach Science, which could include AS and A level Biology, GCSE Biology and Vocational Science levels 2 and 3.
You will need to hold a degree in biological sciences or a closely related area (e.g. pharmacology) and have experience of teaching Science, including Biology up to Level 3.
If you do not currently possess a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, the college will fund and support you to obtain this over the two-year period of the course.
Person Specification :
- A degree in biological science or a closely related subject such as pharmacology - essential
- Advanced degree in biological science or a related subject - desirable
- An advanced level teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE) or willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification, supported by the College
- Must have experience of successful teaching Science, including Biology, up to Level 3
- Ability to teach a second science subject up to GCSE
- Able to demonstrate a high standard of teaching and student achievement
- Experience of organising and implementing quality systems and procedures
- The ability to engage and inspire vocational learners aged 16-19
