Job description

Summary

- Work within specified research grants and / or projects : CLEAR (CLozapine in EARly psychosis).
- Liaise with NHS R&D; team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, and other Trusts that come under CLEAR’s Birmingham hub, and the CI team at KCL Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.
- Travel to Trusts to assist with screening, recruitment and carrying out of research activities.
- Comply with GCP.
- Operate within area of specialism.
- Contribute to publications and dissemination activities.

Main Duties

- Coordinate and project manage CLEAR and related activities.
- Obtain informed consent,





working with study Principal Investigators / delegated clinicians.
- Travel to other Midlands recruiting sites as required.
- Screen and recruit participants for CLEAR.
- Collect research data relevant to CLEAR and other related studies; this may be through a variety of research methods.
- Interview participants / carry out assessments . Drug Attitude Inventory (DAI-10), Glasgow Antipsychotic Side-effect Scale for Clozapine (GASS-C), Clinician Rating Scale (CRS), Health-related quality of Life : EQ-5D-Y, Early Intervention Adult Service Use Schedule (EI-AD-SUS), Recovering Quality of Life-10 items measure (ReQoL-10).
- Follow principles of NHS Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and follow CLEAR protocol and NHS ethics approval.
- Enter data onto study macro database.
- Analyse research data as directed.
- Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters.
- Develop or adapt techniques, models, and methods.






- Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research.
- Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines.
- Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research.
- Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture.

Person Specification

- Masters degree or equivalent experience in research relevant subject area.
- Some basic knowledge of Schizophrenia, Psychosis, and their treatment.
- Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques.
- Ability to analyse information, work on own initiative, problem solve and communicate effectively.
- Ability to access and organise resources successfully.






- Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day-to-day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
- Experience of working in mental health research in NHS or University settings.
- Requirement for DBS, Occupational Health Check and awareness of the Data Protection Act (DPA).
