The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is an independent, non-profit social enterprise dedicated to identifying, countering and exposing influence operations. Our mission is to raise awareness of the threat to democracy and objective truth from influence operations, including disinformation, and help to counter it.
CIR currently fulfils its mission through three strands - programmes and research, the Global Investigations Unit and our Resilience Network. We are a collaborative initiative with global ambitions: we aim to work with partners including civil society, the media, grassroots organisations, academia and democratic governments to coordinate activities.

Contract length: Fixed term until 31st March 2025
Hours needed for this role: Full time
Location: Remote, with availability required during core CIR working hours - 12pm to 4pm UK time.

About The Project
The Project leverages a network of experts in Sub-saharan Africa, and a trusted consortium with a history of delivering impactful, evidence-based solutions to counter FIMI around the world. The Communications and Engagement Team oversees all external communications from the CIR Global Resilience Network (through media placement, and/or partnerships) and flagship delegations in project countries.
Overview Of The Role
The Engagement Manager will oversee a team of experienced consultants in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and information operations, review and enhance outreach strategies, support speaking engagements,
and liaise with other project teams to ensure cohesive operations and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Coordination
- Coordinate and manage a team of experienced consultants specializing in OSINT and information operations
- Facilitate regular meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies
Outreach Strategy Review
- Review and refine the in-country outreach strategy on a quarterly basis based on proposals from consultants
- Ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives
Support for Speaking Engagements
- Collaborate with consultants to define objectives for speaking engagements
- Coordinate follow-ups and external communications to enhance engagement impact
- Provide logistical support for events and speaking opportunities
Cross-team collaboration
- Collaborate with other project teams to facilitate research support for briefings and events
- Work with media teams to develop strategies for advertising and amplifying events
- Ensure information sharing and alignment across different teams
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor the effectiveness of outreach strategies and speaking engagements
- Prepare regular reports on activities, outcomes, and recommendations for improvements
Requirements
Required qualifications and skills
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Communication, Political Science, or a related field
- Experience working in East or West Africa
- Extensive experience in project management, outreach coordination, or a related area
- Strong understanding of OSINT and information operations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across different teams
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of relevant local languages is desired
Working Arrangements:
The Engagement Manager will report into the Communications and Engagement Manager. This role may require occasional travel within the project region.
The expected input is 5 days per week, which can be worked flexibly or according to set days/times, as agreed in advance. The Engagement Manager is expected to make themselves available for core meetings, training sessions etc, as agreed in advance.
To note that some out of hours working may be required to accommodate time differences between international and local investigators, although this will be minimised as far as possible.
