Job description
The Council Revenues Service is responsible for Billing, Collection and Recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefit Overpayment & Sundry Debt.
We currently have vacancies across several areas of the service and we seek enthusiastic and positive individuals to work as part of our teams responsible for administration and processing within the Revenues Service.

excellent communicators and people who are enthusiastic to develop skills across a broad section of the service. You should be able to demonstrate a clear customer focus with well-developed customer service skills, balanced with a commitment to effective service delivery.
We are looking to appoint to permanent, primarily full-time posts across the following teams:
- 2 X 37 hr posts on Housing Benefit Overpayments & Sundry Debt Recovery Team– for this role you will need some knowledge of HB overpayment and /or Sundry debt recovery work processes.
- 2 x 37 hr posts on Council Tax Inspection & Tracing Team– for this role you will need a knowledge and understanding of exemptions relating to Council Tax and the ability to correctly interpret and interrogate information to ensure debtors are traced correctly where necessary.
- 1 x 37 hrs post on Council Tax Collection Team – for this role you will need relevant experience of collection and recovery cycle actions.
- 1 x 37 hrs post on Council Tax Recovery Team – for this role you will need relevant experience of working within a recovery/collection environment
- 1 x 16.5 hrs post on Council Tax Recovery Team – for this role you will need relevant experience of working within a recovery/collection environment.
All roles are weekdays, Monday to Friday and based at Howden House. We currently operate a hybrid working pattern.
For these roles you will need a range of skills and experience, and including:
- Experience and knowledge of Council Tax, Housing Benefits Overpayment & Sundry Debt recovery or Business Rates as relates to the job role(s)for you which you are applying.
- Experience and knowledge of accurate Billing, Collection, Recovery across teams and various income streams as relates to the job role(s)for you which you are applying
- Experience of the collection and recovery of a range of local authority debts and a broad knowledge of maximising revenue throughout the recovery cycle as relates to the job role(s)for you which you are applying
- Well-developed I.T. skills. There is a requirement to be familiar with Revenues and Benefits processing systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications particularly Excel and MS Word.
Experience and knowledge of a customer focused approach to service delivery, balanced with the needs of the service users.
- Experience of dealing with internal & external customers via all available communication channels.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council,

All successful candidates will be required to complete a Basic DBS check.
