Postdoctoral Researcher in Genomics and Genome Editing

Radcliffe Department of Medicine, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford

This is an exciting opportunity to work on developing cutting-edge genomics methods. The main focus of the research will be on unravelling the intricate relationship between the sequence of the human genome and the development of common diseases. You will work on a collaborative project that aims to develop machine learning and laboratory-based approaches for decoding how the human genome encodes gene expression levels.

You will undertake large scale data generation from primary human samples using a method recently pioneered by the host laboratory (Hua et al., Nature 2021 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03639-4 ).

You will hold a PhD in Immunology, Haematology, Genetics or a related discipline (or be close to completion - thesis submitted at time of application) together with relevant experience. Experience in molecular biology techniques including PCR and cell culture and Next Generation Sequencing based protocols including ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq and Chromosome Conformation Capture are essential. You will also have experience of purification of cells from blood and bone marrow using flow cytometry and the analysis and presentation of data.

Experience in bioinformatics and coding in Python or R and a good publication record are desirable.

This position is available fixed-term for 12 months, funded by a Wellcome Discovery Award.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.

Closing date for this position is 12.00 noon on Monday 28 November 2024.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 5 November 2024.
