Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the direct delivery of all highways related schemes across the County made up of 4,300 miles of road, 151,000 streetlights and 2,955 bridges.
We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic District Lead Officer Grade 6. Due to Covid-19 we are currently working home based, the role under normal circumstances would be office based at the Cuerden Depot in Bamber Bridge. The post offered is permanent,
our normal business office working hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, this helps ensure there is adequate telephone coverage during these times.
You will be the lead officer managing multiple districts, administering the highway casework of county council Members, MP's, District and Parish Councillors. Working alongside technical officers and other members of the District Lead Team, you will ensure that issues are thoroughly investigated, and outcomes are communicated in a customer focused and timely manner.
As part of your role, you will also assist in the following duties:
- Support the District Lead Team in administration of the highway casework of county council Members, MP's, District and Parish Councillors.
- Provide effective and pro-active communications to stakeholders in advance of highway works.
- Help ensure Freedom of Information requests are dealt with promptly.
- Full training and support will be provided, but the post holder needs to possess a core set of skill,
as this is a demanding and busy post and you must be able to:
- Thrive in a target driven environment and multi-task to ensure deadlines are met with high-quality responses.
- Have a passion for customer service ensuring that we always deliver a high-quality customer experience, and that our customers are treated with empathy, respect, and consideration.
- Must be politically aware, with a clear understanding of the county council as an organisation and our responsibilities to county council members.
- Able to communicate via phone, email, and letter as a plain English advocate with highly developed written communication skills.
- Team player and willing to support your colleagues during peaks in workload and periods of annual leave, to ensure the team deliver an exceptional service.
