What will I be doing?
You will join the dedicated R&D; teams in Cambridge that create and improve the products behind the company’s rapid growth.
Our software engineers work across a wide variety of projects and with a diverse toolset, as a python engineer within the SaaS Security team the core of what you can expect to be working on is maintaining and expanding Darktrace’s SaaS Security Integrations with various vendors and platforms.
However, the team also works on various other projects across the Darktrace platform leading to an interesting and varied workload.
This is a hybrid role, and the expectation would be to work a minimum of 2 days a week in the London office.

As a Python Engineer within the SaaS Security team, your role will be responsible for, but not limited to :
- Contributing to rapid prototyping of new and innovative ideas to further improve Darktrace’s services and offerings,
- Improving the performance and competencies of existing products and platforms,
- Investigating and furthering our unique methodology in defending against unknown cyber-attacks.
Innovation is of paramount importance and as such, creativity in approach is encouraged as much as traditional project-based development.
What experience do I need?
We welcome applications from engineers who have a solution focused mindset combined with an analytical approach and problem-solving skills.
During the interview process you’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to program using Python and will show an understanding of writing code in a production environment.
Additionally, it’s likely that you’ll be :
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking independent decisions as well as having the ability to work cooperatively within a team,
- Able to show knowledge or interest in cyber-security / malware forensics,
- Experienced with statistical analysis of static or dynamic systems,
- Familiar with Docker,
- Knowledgeable about cloud computing environments would be beneficial.
Experience of working with a range of other programming languages such as JavaScript, Rust, and C++ would also be beneficial but isn’t essential.
