Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurses with experience in Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

You will work in a highly skilled busy CNS team caring for a diverse group of patients.

The GUCH team care for in the region of 10,000 adult patients with congenital heart disease. As an NHSE designated Level One ACHD centre we work in a network with Great Ormond Street Hospital as our referring paediatric centre.

We also work across an Adult network which includes outreach services at Basildon, UCLH, and Luton and Dunstable.

There are a number of sub-speciality areas that sit under the ACHD service. We have clinics in the specialist areas of Maternal Cardiology,





Electrophysiology, Heart Failure (including close working with Transplant Centres), Pulmonary Hypertension and Transition.

You will work providing expert clinical nursing care to patients within a busy and dynamic service. The role is muti-faceted and includes responsibilities in providing access to patients via a helpline, supporting in-patient care and assistance in the patient pathways of invasive diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures.

In return, we will develop your skills, knowledge

and experience with formal and on-the-job training. This includes access to Specialist Level 7 modules and the potential to develop advanced examination and assessment skills.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to provide specialist nursing care for patients with congenital heart disease. This includes in-patient and out-patient settings.

The post holder will be supported to provide expert nursing care as part of a wider team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

- Registered Nurse
- Possession of or working towards first degree
- Mentorship Course

Desirable criteria

Specialist Clinical Course

Experience

Essential criteria

- Clinical Experience at Band 5
- Experience in Cardiology
- Experience in the care of the acutely unwell patient

Desirable criteria

- Experience in Management of staff
- Participation in delivery of care in out-patient setting

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Knowledge of Acute Cardiology Nursing.

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of care of patients with congenital heart disease.

Skills

Essential criteria

- Excellent communication skills with MDT and patients
- Flexibility






- Ability to support the development of others
