Teaching Assistant (SEND Focus)
Location : Mainstream Secondary School, St Helens
Position : Full-Time Teaching Assistant (Supporting SEND Pupils)
Salary : Competitive (depending on experience)
Contract : Permanent / Term Time Only

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our SEND team and help create a positive learning experience for all.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide one-on-one and group support to pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
- Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teachers to implement tailored learning strategies and ensure pupils' individual needs are met.
- Support pupils in managing their emotions and behavior, promoting independence, confidence, and social skills.
- Assist with the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to suit the needs of SEND pupils.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents / carers.
- Collaborate with external professionals,
such as educational psychologists and therapists, as required.
Requirements :
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
- A passion for supporting pupils with SEND and understanding of various learning difficulties (e.g., ASD, ADHD, dyslexia).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable :
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a secondary school setting.
- Knowledge of EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) and strategies for inclusion.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
