About the role
Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Executive Director of ISD is a critical leadership role, responsible for ensuring UCL delivers the day-to-day IT needs of the community whilst enabling a long term digital strategy which will make the organisation fit for the future.
They will be responsible for leading our Information Services Division in advancing UCL’s academic mission through the strategic and innovative use of technology, whilst ensuring that the end user experience is front of mind.
Additionally, as part of the professional services functions change programme they will be responsible for reviewing current service and operating approaches.
The focus of this work,
using available benchmarks, is to ensure that the organisational structure for delivery of IT and digital services in both the centre and within faculties is organised to maximise impact, financially sustainable and improves the experience of colleagues, students, researchers and partners.
They will be responsible for guiding and motivating the ISD leadership team of 11 ensuring the division delivers against its objectives, identifies, develops and retains the talent it needs to deliver both live services and the prioritised change programmes, and fosters a high performing, inclusive working culture.
They will work closely with the rest of the Vice President Operations Leadership team, as well as the wider VP team in supporting both day to day needs, as well as supporting the realisation of an Operational Strategy which consistently improves user experience, mitigates risk and prepares UCL for the future.
About you
The successful candidate will have a highly commercial, service orientated mindset,
with the intellectual capacity to deal with a broad and varied portfolio covering user experience through to high performance computing.
You will have experience of successfully implementing customer focused digital strategies aligned to organisational goals.
