Job description

Specialist Educational Psychologist

- You will be a qualified Educational Psychologist with HPCP registration.
- You will deliver Educational Psychology support, negotiating and providing a psychological service based upon a consultative model of service delivery to support the identification of children / young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

You will develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and other professionals, young people and their families / carers, communicating well at all levels, showing consideration, concern and respect for other people’s feelings, opinions and differing needs and viewpoints.

Part of your role (0.5)





will involve providing a psychological service for Salford’s No Wrong Door Hub & Outreach Service a multi-disciplinary team for adolescents with complex needs who are on the edge of care or in care.

You will support the team in its aim to provide the best possible outcomes for all young people, utilising and cascading your specific knowledge and skills within the area of SEND.

You must show commitment to the No Wrong Door way of working, ensuring that services are responsive to the needs of service users and their families / carers.

You will demonstrate skills in responding to complex and challenging situations, showing a high level of resilience. You will show a level of flexibility in terms of service delivery.

- You will ensure that young people are involved in discussions and decision making, ensuring that co-design and young people’s voice is core to all aspects of delivery.
- You will be responsible for the quality of practice across the EPS in the area of Trauma / Trauma-informed practice,





leading the service on this key area by example through high standards of service delivery across all responsibilities.

You will offer supervision to the EPS and CPD opportunities in your field of expertise.

- You will establish and maintain personal and professional boundaries at all times.
- You will evaluate areas of responsibility annually and provide a report to the Principal that feeds into the service evaluation.
- You will contribute to developments and processes across the council / service as requested.

You will produce reports of an acceptable professional standard as a means of advising the local authority, professionals, parents and agencies on the needs of individual children or more general issues.







This will include providing Educational Psychology Advice as required by the Strategic Director of Children’s Services in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £38.

The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £9.50 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.
