Children's Services Practitioner (CSP 3) – Social Worker – Plymouth Together for Childhood

Every childhood is worth fighting for. This belief drives us, and it is the reason our Children's Services team push themselves to transform the lives of children and families – in person,

in centres and communities nationwide, and through the knowledge they share. Join us as a Children's Services Practitioner (Social Worker) and make a contribution that means everything.

Our services help children who have been abused, protect children at risk and find the best ways to prevent child abuse from ever happening. Our Children's Services Practitioners have the opportunity to contribute to service development, not only in terms of direct work, but also through influencing, dissemination of learning, involvement in evaluation and working with children and young people to design new activities and services that prevent sexual abuse. If you are interested in this new Social Work role, have a recognised social work qualification and registration with the relevant social care council within the UK, have relevant and recent experience of direct work with children and their families,

proven ability in identifying risk and initiating child protection interventions with a good knowledge of up to date child protection best practice, research and legislation, please get in contact with Together for Childhood Plymouth.

As a Together for Childhood site, the NSPCC has joined forces with Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Safeguarding Children's Partnership, safeguarding partner agencies such as police and health, community groups, fellow charities and the voluntary sector, schools and the wider public - with the aim of building a better future for children by identifying and addressing problems at a local level in a truly integrated way.

The focus of our work is on the prevention of child sexual abuse of which the provision of tertiary services is integral. Therefore,

we are recruiting a qualified social worker to join our team and make a difference in the lives of children and young people.

As a practitioner with the NSPCC, you will provide direct services to children, families, carers or adults working in an inter-agency context where activities will be complex and where there is a requirement to take considerable responsibility and work autonomously. You will benefit from a very supportive multi-disciplinary team and the knowledge from colleagues across NSPCC.

We are currently offering Letting the Future In - a recovery service for children and their families who are affected by sexual abuse and Harmful Sexual Behaviour Services that include the assessment of, and intervention with, children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour and support to their families/carers.

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic practitioner, who is passionate about creating change and can represent the values and behaviours of NSPCC. Joining the team and engaging families in the services we offer will be a fulfilling role for any social worker. You will have a manageable workload, excellent training and development opportunities.

The next phase of our work will see us working more closely with other teams in Plymouth, with the ambition to co-deliver specific evidence-based interventions. Over time this role will be integral to increasing the local offer for child sexual abuse recovery and prevention by working together to deliver services.

This new post will support Plymouth's ambitions to create a wide-reaching approach to Child Sexual Abuse (CSA)

and Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB). We are looking for a practitioner with a specific interest in this field of work and the skills to work with young people who may have complex trauma history. So, if you are a qualified social worker, who has relevant and recent experience in working with the complexity of children and families and/or mental health coupled with the drive to prevent child sexual abuse by working at the forefront of our understanding of tackling CSA/HSB amongst children and young people then you are definitely who we are looking for.

Please note the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check prior to starting employment.

Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you. And you'll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.

For an informal discussion please contact Louise Fathers (Team Manager) at Together for Childhood NSPCC - 01752 422577 - [email protected]
