Job summary
The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service is looking to recruit an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to be part of our SEND team.
This exciting role provides the successful candidate with an opportunity to be part of the Child Development Centre servicewhich involves working with early years children with complex needs within their community settings.
As well as this, the successful candidate will be a part of the under 5s Autism Diagnostic Team, participating in detailed MDT discussions, liaising with the patients family and educational placements.
This post is for an experienced clinician who is ready to develop their therapeutic and diagnostic skills.
Main duties of the job
To provide a speech and language therapy service to children with complex speech, language and communication needs, providing independent assessment and treatment of children and developing and implementing specialist programmes of care and treatment for individual patients with communication and feeding difficulties.
To deliver a speech and language therapy service for children with complex needs to identified localities within the communities of Bassetlaw.
To be an integral part of the Child Development Centre MDT, working closely with the paediatric teams.
To be a part of the Autism diagnostic pathway in Bassetlaw.

Qualifications / Training
Essential
- Professional specific degree BSC speech sciences or Masters in medical sciences.
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Completion of the RCSLT Newly Qualified Practitioner Goals
- Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses in relevant specialism
- Car driver

Completion of RCSLT dysphagia competencies
Experience
Essential
- Relevant undergraduate experience of working with a paediatric caseload
- Relevant undergraduate experience of working with a range of assessment tools and appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Experience in working in nurseries, schools and patient's homes
- Experience working as part of a paediatric MDT with children with a wide range of communication disorders.
- Understanding of the use of AAC with early years children
Desirable
- Experience of providing ASD diagnostic assessments
- Experience in assessing children with eating and drinking difficulties and providing an appropriate eating and drinking management plan
