About YouTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience : Essential criteria 1.

PhD qualified in a relevant subject area (i.e., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, and / or immunology) *2. Documented experience of research involving bacterial pathogens, (ideally enterobacteria)3.

Documented experience of research involving macrophage cell lines (ideally human induced pluripotent stem cells HiPSC-derived macrophages)4.

Documented expertise in molecular biology (especially DNA / RNA extractions and manipulations) and with omics-based approaches (e.

g. RNA-Seq, microbial genomics)5. Documented ability to design, implement and analyse experiments6.





Excellent verbal and written communication skills (i.

e., documented by presentations at academic meetings and track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and / or preprints)7.

Academic integrity and rigor8. Excellent teamworking skills (i.e., documented by broader citizenship roles within the previous Departments / Teams, embracing equality / diversity / inclusion, and contributing to training others) *Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered.

In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.

The Cover Letter should include a clearly labeled section for each criterion (i.e., using different headings), explaining how the criterion is met.

Selection will be based on meeting essential and desirable criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a formal interview which will entail a research presentation, a research exercise, and a discussion of the prospective work.

Interviews are likely to be held 3-4 weeks after the application deadline.
