Job overview

This role gives the successful applicant the opportunity to act as the lead clinician in a dynamic mental health team and offer guidance, supervision and leadership to colleagues, including our team of care coordinators.

The role entails supporting our clients who are experiencing severe mental health difficulties towards recovery, by maintaining an empathetic and compassionate approach that is based on evidence based interventions and support.

Main duties of the job

- Champion transformation and transition between all services, with the service user, family and network, ensuring service users and carers are fully engaged in the development and delivery of mental health services.






- Support the transformation of pathways to support the best pathway of care for all service users.
- Support staff on specific areas including Safeguarding concerns, adult social care reviews, allocation of work, health and safety etc.
- Lead by providing a range of interventions and assessments for service users, including those with multiple pathologies and complex mental health needs, taking into consideration their physical / cognitive / perceptual skills to identify their abilities and areas of difficulty.
- Ensure that risk assessment / management procedures are implemented including Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adult Procedures.

This includes being able to act as Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM)





in Safeguarding cases and having the ability to make appropriate decisions.

- Provide specialist clinical advice on the suitability of various assessments and intervention methods.
- Supervising staff through caseload managing.
- Be responsible for organising and prioritising own caseload in the day to day allocation of work, whilst being able to work flexibly to meet the needs of their service users, relatives, carers and the service.
- Deputise when required in the absence of the Team / Service Lead and delegate appropriately to more junior team member

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735, pro rata for part time staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Come and be part of one of our integrated mental health & wellness teams in Waltham Forest. These new teams merge assessment and early intervention and recovery teams, removing the need for a two-tier service and no more hand off of patients from one service to another.

We have had new investment in mental health worker posts,





peer support workers posts and support time recovery workers to support the integrated team to work as one around the patient, their families and their social networks.

Our vision is for this new investment to help start a new era in our mental healthcare provision at NELFT, making us among the most holistic, relational and person-centred services in the country.

Qualifications

Essential criteria







- NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
- Qualification in social work, nursing or occupational therapy

Experience

Essential criteria

- Minimum 4 years post qualification experience within a mental health setting
- Experience of working within community recovery or brief intervention services who treat and care for individuals in line with the Care programme approach and Care Act 2014
- Extensive experience of undertaking complex mental state assessment, risk and needs assessment with service users with severe and enduring mental illness
- Experience of providing managerial and clinical supervision to junior colleagues

Knowledge

Essential criteria







- An awareness of national policies and legislation and local drivers within mental health services
- Demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge and experience in the field of mental health and recovery
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983; Mental Capacity Act, Care Act 2014 and related codes of practice and guidance
- Understanding of Personalisation agendas , recovery models and evidence based practice

Skills

Essential criteria

- Advanced clinical reasoning skills ability to decide and establish appropriate action in allocation of workload and other clinical decisions
- Display effective communication skills- and an ability to work in a flexible proactive manner to respond to the needs of the Service.

This will include managing complex and high-risk situations and demonstrating an enthusiastic, committed approach to service user involvement in care and delivery of service

Leadership skills, including ability to manage staff and delegate work appropriately
