Are you looking for an opportunity in student-facing administration?
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers one of the top undergraduate courses globally, with over 700 students at any given time.
We are seeking an administrator to join the fast-paced team supporting our taught programme, offering front line support for students and teaching staff alike to enhance the experience of our student cohort.
The postholder will be integral to the smooth running of the academic year, forming a close relationship with our teaching staff to deliver efficient exam and assessment, industrial placement, and electronic systems processes and experiences.
Our Undergraduate course consists of two years of core subjects,
covering the full breadth of mechanical engineering, followed by two years where students can specialise their modules according to their interests and strengths.
We also offer an industrial placement opportunity, making use of connections around the UK and the globe to enhance our students success and ultimate employability.
The variety of specialist knowledge is provided by over 60 members of teaching staff, plus a bespoke manual machining workshop.
- You will be part of a core team of administrators offering support for teaching administration, including maintaining module records.
- You will ensure effective and smooth running of exams and coursework submissions.
- You will be a first point of contact for staff, students and visitors relating to teaching policy and e-learning systems.
- You will support the Industrial Exchange Coordinator in coordinating applications and processing placements.
- You will be the primary support point for learning resources,
including Virtual Learning Environments (VLE’s) and organising Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs).
- You will need to be educated to an A-level standard or have equivalent experience.
- You have experience working in a front-facing or customer focussed environment.
- You have administrative experience and have working in a fast-paced office environment.
- You are able to work effectively with people from different backgrounds, cultures and levels of seniority.
- Experience in developing VLE’s, managing exams or other assessments, organising exchange programmes, or committee administration are desirable for the position.
- Part of a close-knit administrative and teaching team.
