Job description

We have a position for a HSE Business Partner to join our Team.

Reporting to the Head of HSE for the group, the role will focus on preventing and mitigating claims, with a focus on environmental incidents, through effective risk management strategies across all divisions of Certas Energy UK.

The role holder will actively contribute to incident investigations, provide coaching and training, and offer assurance through audits and detailed reporting.

They will also manage key relationships with service providers such as Pen underwriters to ensure effective performance and alignment with risk mitigation strategies

The Role :

- Proactively develop plans and strategies to reduce the number of insurance related claims.






- Ensure adherence to insurer policy stipulations and exclusions, working with insurers to maintain compliance and minimise risks related to coverage gaps.
- Manage external relationships with insurers, brokers, service providers and cross functional internal teams to ensure optimal outcomes for complex incidents.
- Lead on liability decisions, claims analysis, and reporting, ensuring data integrity and effective use of insights to prevent future incidents.
- Oversee 24 / 7 spills response service
- Identify areas for improvement in managing environmental risks, operational incidents, and liability exposure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement targeted risk mitigation strategies across all areas of the business.
- Oversee claims data and systems management, ensuring unified and efficient processes across business divisions.
- Provide assurance to senior leaders through regular reporting, site audits, and reviews focused on claims risk and incident management.






- Support key stakeholders in developing business cases for claims risk management improvements.

What we are looking for :

- Extensive experience in claims and risk management, with a focus on liability, insurance, and complex claims.
- Experience of hazardous goods / industries, tankers and environmental liability insurance is an advantage
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen,





adept at challenging costs and processes to ensure favorable business outcomes.
- Experience in high-risk environments, managing multiple projects with stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, budget control, and customer-focused outcomes.
- Qualified or working towards Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.
- Strong self-management skills, effectively prioritising tasks and managing time in a self-directed manner.
- Exhibits autonomy, confidently making decisions and solving problems independently while aligning with broader goals.
- Proactive, taking initiative to identify opportunities, address challenges, and drive improvements without waiting for direction
