Job Summary

If you have the vision, drive and enthusiasm to help us deliver an exciting modern pharmacy service and you are a clinical support pharmacist and have a minimum of 9 months post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy, or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and are ready for the next step in your career then this could be the job for you.

This is a band 6 to 7 development role which involves working as a clinical support pharmacist based at a single site in our rotational program. You will join the Senior Support Pharmacist team once you have completed the required competencies to demonstrate you are working at a senior support level. At this level you will work within Emergency Medicine.

Applicants with 12 months post-registration hospital experience will be appointed in a progressional post under Agenda for Change Annex 21 (payment at 75% of the maximum band 7 pay, uplifted to the starting pay of a band 7 as per Agenda for Change on completion of the first year of clinical diploma or NHSE/RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway). All applicants will then progress on to the independent prescribing course.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

You will deliver a high quality specialist clinical pharmacy service, and there will be a strong emphasis on supporting you in developing leadership and mentoring skills to the next level.

You will be introduced to core directorate activities - reporting and analysis of medicines expenditure, clinical governance and risk management activities, including review of PGDs and relevant policies. You will have the opportunity to train clinically to provide a neonatal intensive care service and neonatal parenteral nutrition.

In addition you will take on enhanced roles relating to education and training, such as developing training programmes and involvement with training of new doctors. You will have responsibility for the supervision of less experienced members of the team including junior pharmacists and trainee pharmacists.

You will be a highly motivated individual and a team player with well-developed communication skills and a desire to use your knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care and influence healthcare professionals in the best use of medicines.

You will join a team of clinical pharmacists who provide the on-call service with a back-up provided by the Specialist and Advanced Clinical Pharmacists.
