Deputy Head of Widening Participation (Programme Operations)
Salary from £50,606 - £58,505 pa, with potential to progress to £65,157 pa inclusive of London allowance.
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months (maternity cover).
The role
As a key member of the Widening Participation (WP) management team, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and delivery of impactful access and outreach programmes at LSE. Over the next 12 months, you’ll work closely with our Head of Widening Participation and Deputy Head (Strategic Projects)
to manage our existing WP activities, whilst developing new initiatives that will form a significant part of the 'Access' stream of our Access and Participation Plan (APP) for 2025/26 - 2028/29.
The team and wider context
The WP team’s work directly contributes to the School’s strategy, LSE2030, and supports our goals for advancing equity, diversity and inclusion. The WP team works with colleagues across the School to meet the ambitious commitments in our Access and Participation Plan with the regulator, the Office for Students.
The WP team has primary responsibility for:
- Widening Participation activities and programmes.
- Delivery of the Access interventions outlined in LSE’s Access and Participation Plan (APP).
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with the ability to lead the WP Operational team and support them to deliver on strategic objectives. Essential skills and experience include:
- Significant experience of working in widening participation in a higher education / not for profit and in-depth knowledge of the operating environment for Widening Participation.
- Experience of contributing to leadership and development of a team.
- Experience of creating and delivering strategic and operational Widening Participation or outreach plans.
