Established Banking group is currently hiring for a Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager to join their London team on a 15m Fixed Term Contract. This is a maternity cover with current incumbent leaving in Feb 2025. It is essential that candidates are available no later than a one month notice to allow for a smooth handover.
This is an ideal opportunity for a financial reporting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge. The key role purpose will be to support the Head of External Reporting and Accounting Policy on the delivery of all group financial reporting including the annual and half year reports, as well as internal reporting to the Audit Committee.
Responsibilities:Act as the number 2 the Head of External Reporting on the delivery of group financial reporting including the annual and half year reports
Management of one direct report – the Group Technical Accountant.Support the Head of External Reporting on reporting to the Audit Committee and responding to the Committee’s requests
Assist in the continued improvement / automation of processes including production of the group annual report and subsidiary accounts
Assist in the continued improvement of the quality and consistency of subsidiary accounts
Maintain a strong working relationship with Auditors and ensure audit queries and requests are challenged and addressed as appropriate
Manage the delivery of the group’s quarterly FINREP return, from timetabling and communication with the business units, through to final PRA submission
Act as a subject matter expert on technical accounting (IFRS and FRS 102) and FINREP and provide advisory support to all business units.
This includes reviewing technical papers.Lead an ongoing programme of deep dives into specific technical accounting and FINREP areas to maintain or improve the quality of output across the group
Prepare new policies and updates for the Group Accounting ManualReview and prepare summaries of technical and regulatory changes for key stakeholders
Lead the implementation of accounting and FINREP change initiatives in response to new regulation and market practice
Coordinate and at times deliver technical training sessions to maintain a strong knowledge base across the group
Assist in the management of the parent company’s cash flows and work with Treasury to mitigate any cash flow risks
Act as the Group Finance representative in ad hoc projects where appropriate
Requirements:Strong experience and knowledge of financial reporting and control, audit, and technical accounting (IFRS) within financial services - EssentialQualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with post qualified experience - EssentialPrior experience of group reporting and consolidation accounting – highly preferred
Experience of FINREP regulatory requirements and submissions – highly preferred
Proven track record of delivering effective reporting to tight deadlines
Strong interest in understanding commercial operations and the key drivers of value within the businesses
Available to start a new role within 4 weeks of offer. This is a high profile role across the bank with regular interaction with key stakeholders across Finance,
Risk & Treasury so it is therefore essential that you hold excellent interpersonal skills. The bank offers a hybrid flexible environment with 2-3 days in the office and offers realistic opportunities for a permanent role in the future.
