Job description

Job Title : Level 3 Key Stage 1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Responsible To : Headteacher / Governors

Responsible For : SEND children working within the class

The Headteacher and Governors would like to appoint a patient, resilient, kind and proactive teaching assistant with experience in SEND to join our happy, friendly school.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for working with children with SEND to work in our small resourced provision known as The Caterpillar Room’.

Children accessing the provision have a range of SEND needs ranging across SEMH, sensory processing, ADHD and ASD.

We hold very high expectations of our children and staff and believe that everyone, regardless of ability, can achieve;

we recognise that this can look very different for different children.

The successful applicant may be required to support children with SEND in the main Year 1 class on occasion.

Professional development is prioritised at our school and the successful candidate will receive training to support their role in school.

JOB PURPOSE

The successful candidate will :

- Be an exemplary practitioner, with excellent feedback from other professionals relating to work with children who have significant SEND.
- Be prepared to go above and beyond to ensure children receive the highest quality curriculum and learning environment.






- Take great pride in the classroom and ensure it is well-organised and accessible.
- Be able to work reflectively and with a proactive can do’ attitude.
- Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Contribute to constructive team building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors.
- Deliver inspiring activities for children which are inclusive and exciting.
- Be resilient and have a range of strategies to manage challenging behaviour in young children.
- Participate and share in the responsibility for the safeguarding, well-being and behaviour of all the pupils.
- Liaise with the appropriate outside agencies as needed.
