Job summary
This is an exciting developmental opportunity for 1x experienced CWP who will have been qualified for at least two years by September 2024 to join Cohort 3 of the national SWP programme to becomea Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (SWP).
This is a training role and the post holder will be expected to fulfil the requirements of the SWP Post Graduate diploma as set out at Kings College London (KCL).
The post-holder will work within core Southwark CAMHS CWP service delivering under supervision outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing, mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, and behaviours of concern.
Both the training and service experience will equip the post holder with knowledge, attitude and capabilities required to operate effectively in an inclusive, value-driven service.
This is a two-year training role within the Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) specifically commissioned by NHS England (NHSE) with a view to developing the careers and employability of those trained on Children and Young People's Mental Health CYP-MH (previously CYP-IAPT) Low Intensity interventions.
The post holders will be expected to attend all KCL academic and self-study days as required and specified within the agreed national curriculum whilst working in the service for the remaining days of the week.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of the Southwark CAMHS - CWP team managing a defined caseload with a focus on providing focused assessment and evidence-based intervention for children and young people (CYP) with mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their parents / carers.
Please note that you will need to submit an application form to Kings College London (KCL) for a place on the CYP MH in Senior Wellbeing Practitioner Postgraduate Diploma programme in addition to the employment application that you make to the Southwark CWP Service .
The post holder will under guidance provide Case Management and Clinical Skills Supervision to a no of trainee and / CWP's within the service.
The post holder may be required to travel to sites across the Trust when required and adapt working patterns in order to meet demands of the role.

Job responsibilities
Communication
- Establish therapeutic relationships with children, young people and their families and implement evidence based therapeutic interventions.
- Ensure that all members of the multi-disciplinary team, their colleagues, service users and appropriate others are informed / updated of changes involving current care plans, progress, mental state, and psychosocial factors in line with best practice.
- Liaise with and advise CYP and families, GPs,
schools, local authority and other statutory bodies and third sector agencies including childrens safeguarding as required.
- Communicate sensitive information to carers and relatives.
- Use a range of communication styles and channels as appropriate to the task.
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate written records on the electronic record system of the Trust and / or (where required) GP Youth Clinic.
Analytical and Judgmental Skills / Freedom to Act
- Undertake assessments, culminating in an agreed plan of action and / or care and intervention.
- Undertake complex risk assessments and develop a formulation of risk which will lead to the development of risk management plans which have taken into consideration a range of possible outcomes.
- Undertake and continuously re-evaluate complex bio-psycho-social assessments and develop a working formulation which will lead to the development of personalised needs-led care plan in line with evidence based and routine outcome measures.
- Ensure that practice is evidence-based, paying attention to the Trusts and NICE guidelines, policies, protocols and pathways and other professional standards.
- Be available for and participate in individual supervision with agreed clinical supervisor.
- Implement, review and maintain Trust Policies and Procedures.
Planning and Organizational Skills
- Ability to manage and coordinate diary and caseload.

- Plan and manage a range of activities which may be complex in nature and delegate appropriate responsibilities to other members of the team.

Responsibility for Patients / Service Users (SUs)
- Assess patients / SUs with mild to moderate mental health needs to ensure appropriate intervention or treatment offer.
- Work in partnership with young people and their families to inform assessment, need and rationale for treatment intervention.
- To work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to ensure safe working practice and positive outcomes for children and young people.
- To follow safeguarding processes as appropriate or required.

Person Specification
Knowledge
Essential
- A good working knowledge of Mental health disorders in children and adolescents. A good working knowledge of difficulties common to neurodivergent CYP social anxiety, sleep disturbances, sensory processing difficulties, burn out .
- A good working knowledge of Key legislation relevant to CAMHS setting : The Children Act 1989, 2004 and The Mental Health Act 1983, Human Rights Act 1998 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
- A good working knowledge of Safeguarding procedures. Assessment of risk and management of risk factors
- A good working knowledge of the principles underlying confidentiality and information sharing. The principles of clinical governance and CAMHS practice.
Desirable
Relevant research and its application to assessment, treatment and case management of CAMH disorders. Research informed and evidence based methods of assessment, treatment and case management.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of functioning as a CWP in CYP mental health services.
- Demonstrable post qualification experience, including experience of working with CYP's with mild to moderate mental health problems and their families using CBT or CBT informed GSH.
- Experience of managing and prioritising a caseload.
- Evidence of good practice in CAMHS assessment facilitation, including assessing : risk behaviour, impact of the lived experience, systemic functioning and managing difference in the clinical space.
Desirable
- Working with families in a diverse environment
- Experience in working as part of a core CAMHS
- Experience of undertaking qualitative and quantitative research methodology
- Experience of supervising junior staff or trainees
Skills and Training

Qualifications
Essential
CYP - IAPT Post-Graduate Diploma or Certificate (CWP) with two years post qualification experience within an MHST or CWP service by January 2023.

- Formal training in non CWP parenting interventions Incredible Years.
- Evidence of CPD attendance or formal training in adapting interventions for Neurodivergent CYP
