Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client are one of the largest acute and community providers in the West Midlands having more than 850 beds on one of the main sites, The Trust also has 56 and 54 rehabilitation beds at two other sites.

more than 70% of our wards had zero avoidable pressure ulcers and we are using telemedicine to improve community reporting.

The successful appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, which will include : provide,





and develop further with clinical colleagues, acute medical and respiratory services for the Trust in collaboration with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care and, where appropriate, to provide an integrated service for patient, take ongoing responsibility for patients under their care, participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program, work with colleagues to recruit patients to NIHR trials on the respiratory portfolio, appointee will be encouraged to develop such special skills and interests appropriate to the agreed overall development of the service, demonstrate a firm involvement in clinical governance, risk management and clinical audit,





take joint responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors in the Department & contribute to the bronchoscopy service which includes EBUS, and take an equal share of general acute medical takes and be responsible within the consultant based ward system for continuing care including the provision of 7 day service.

This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.
