Job overview

Experienced midwives with significant midwifery experience are invited to apply for the new role of Induction of Labour Coordinator.

The post holder is required to demonstrate clinical leadership and expert midwifery knowledge regarding the induction process.

The post holder will ensure safe and effective arrangements for induction of labour, prioritising admissions and transfers based on personalised care plans.

The post holder will oversee the service provision for ongoing and planned induction of labour, management of urgent induction of labour cases, and be the patient point of contact for induction of labour arrangements.

On a shift-to-shift basis,





the post holder will co-ordinate urgent and elective admissions. Liaising with the Delivery Suite shift leader and Consultant Obstetrician to maintain patient safety.

Main duties of the job

To have oversight of the planned induction of labour cases including the indication for induction and an overview of risk assessments and personalised care plans.

To be responsible for booking induction of labour in office hours via induction coordinator bleep and making arrangements for

To review and prioritise planned inductions based on the individualised plan of care and relevant pregnancy risks.

To coordinate admission for induction of labour, taking into consideration the maternity units planned activity, acuity and staffing to minimise delays following admission.

To actively participate in audit and continuous service improvement plans.
