Job summary
Band 5 Special SchoolNurse. Special School Nursing Service Surrey
Would you like to bepart of a team which ensures all children and Young People are supported toreach their full potential.
Based in a school for Children and Young People with severelearning disabilities and complex health needs, you will be valued as part ofthe wider, County wide Special School Nursing service.
We ask that you have a minimum of 1 years post registrationclinical experience of working with children / young people with learningdisability and additional health needs.
Base : Woodlands School
hours 5 days a week - Monday to Friday term timeonly.
You will bring your energy and innovation to foster aculture focused on improving health outcomes to children and young peoplewithin this setting.
Your innovation will enable all 8 teams to work inparallel ensuring best practice is followed.

Main duties of the job
Respondingto medical emergencies
Support with trainingeducational staff in nursing procedures including gastrostomy, seizuremanagement and ventilation .
Medicationmanagement
Attendingmulti agency meetings
Careplanning
Reportwriting
Nurse ledclinics (Downs Syndrome, sleep, desensitisation, early toileting)
Participationin clinical and safeguarding supervision
Participationin auditing
Participationin EHCP meetings.

Purpose
The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the provision of health care forchildren and young people, aged 2-11 years, with severe / profound and multiplelearning and physical difficulties.
This willbe achieved by providing expert training, advice and support to the schoolstaff and other people involved in their care.

- RN child / RSCN / RN adult RN
- LD with experience with children / learning disability.
